Green Cards & Visa
A visa is a form of documentation used during travelling that allows a person to enter a foreign country for a specified purpose. Two types of visas are provided by the U.S.: immigrant or non-immigrant visas.
Immigrant visas- individuals travelling to the U.S. to live in the country permanently. These typically require a sponsorship from a permanent resident or U.S. citizen.
Non-immigrant visas- typically for individuals visiting the U.S. temporarily for work or study.
What is a green card? A green card, unlike a visa that is just a travel document, grants permanent resident status. When this status is granted, an individual can leave and re-enter the U.S. freely, work, apply for educational government aid or sponsor relatives seeking to visit.
Citizenship & Naturalization Law Services
A person can become a citizen through the process of naturalization. A resident who has lived in the U.S. for at least five years can be eligible. There are multiple additional requirements that must be fulfilled to continue this process. It is important that you work with a knowledgeable immigration attorney to aid you through this process.
